A Holiday Shout-Out

She's been called the "Queen of Cards", the "Harper-sicord of Greeting Musicality", and the "Gate Creeper"... so it should come as no surprise that we are very pleased to have been mentioned in her "Most Unusual Christmas Card" list. Follow the link below for the proof.

Pumpkin Basketball

Here at J-Dig, pumpkins are highly revered... that is why they have received the honor of being the subject of the last two posts. This post also speaks to the athletic prowess of the J-Dig conglomerate.

ReHerschel Dinner

One of J-Dig's founding members was lucky enough to get married a year ago this week. Since the wedding (and courtship) took place in Georgia, the J-Dig collective thought that a nod to one of the best college football players of all time would be appropriate for the invite. We also felt that this jewel should be shared with the entire world, not just those invited to the proceedings. Enjoy.

Air Check?

Rumor on the street (does one person constitute a rumor?) is that J-Dig was mentioned on KVIL 103.7 FM in Dallas on Monday September 14th, 2009 sometime in the A.M. This would be the first time, to our knowledge, that our illustrious company has brushstroked the airwaves. Our research analyst is working overtime to substantiate this claim...more to follow.

*The publisher acknowledges the logo above is dated. It was used intentionally since it represents the high water mark of the station, and the one with which we are most familiar.

How Far We've Come (Part II of II)

It's hard to imagine a company of our stature having humble beginnings, but here is the proof in the form of our two original "demos". As you can see, we started with a more sketched out, black-and-white approach. If I remember correctly, these must have been created during the Great Color Shortage of 2008

School's Back...Forever

This is a two-part post on the impending doom that is a brand new school year. Summer's over, cowpokes.

Act 1: No more sleeping in.

Act II: Cheerleaders

Yearbook

Yearbooks across the nation are littered with the above sentiment. It sometimes comes in the form of Never Change. Talk about a stifling request...

The only time we support non-changing is when it comes to Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are":
Don't go changing, to try and please me/
You never let me down before./
(Mmmm-mm-mmm-mmm-mmmm.)

Body Paint

With the weekend looming (not to mention American Football of the college and professional varieties), we felt the urge to include a post that tips the hat to practitioners of debauchery.

Summertime

Maybe it's because we're in the biz, but here are J-Dig we think that people should give out cards in the summer. Just because it's summer. And as 50 says, "It's hot out [in] this bitch that's a good 'nuff reason".

This one's a statement:

This one's a demand/plea:

In case my drawing above is unclear, time (represented by the clock) is locked up at the courthouse's top tower. Supports have shown up to protest time's incarceration. Some of the protesters are holding candles and one is holding a sign. They are all chanting in one unified voice, "Free time, free time, free time!"

The Triumvirate of Friendship

This post is dedicated to anyone who has ever had a friend...
Don't be too slow.
The behind the back variety is highly honorable too.

You may think that handshakes are only for working stiffs, but a good handshake from a friend can really set the mood for fun.

The undisputed champion of friendship greeting.
Always fashionable, invariably inspiring, and infallibly fresh.

Best of Big Deez

D Magazine has been published since 1974, covering topics in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth area. [Magnitude check: According to the US Census, DFW is the 4th largest metropolitan area in the entire United States.] Since 1977, D Magazine has been awarding companies, people, places, and things with designations of Best (and sometimes Worst). This month, D has come out with "The Best of Big D" issue for 2009 and wouldn't you know who was included: J-Dig Cards. [Applause]. {Silence please}. [Thank you].

Exhibit A: The Cover

Exhibit B: The Article

Exhibit C: The Link

The origination of this sketch had little to do with magazines...but seeing how our award came from a magazine called "D", I figured a different connotation may be in order.

Vacation Blog

As I understand from the amount of "Gimme Some More" blog-mail we've been receiving, there has been an itch for some entries at a more regular interval. Well, let me remind you that J-Dig is a company composed of real, strong, courageous, patriotic Americans. Here is what we were doing over the last 5 days:

Another summer-essential sketch...only this one is a little more interactive.

Cadillac Grills

This post is an homage to an honorary founding member of inspiration for J-Dig Cards: Ludacris.

The oblique references below are from the 2000 album Back for the First Time, track #14 "Southern Hospitality". The beginning of the song goes like this...

Ah
Cadillac grills
Cadillac bills
Check out the oil my Cadillac spills
Matter of fact, candy paint Cadillacs kill
So check out the hoes my Cadillac fills
